Prayer Ministry

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.               1 John 5:14-15

There are several ways you can REQUEST PRAYERS:

  • call the church office (989) 835-5861 and speak with the administrative assistant
  • add prayer requests to the clipboard located in the church office
  • use the web form for prayer requests to go directly to pastor
  • email the prayer team leader using   prayers@sjlmidland.org

The St. John’s Prayer Chain

The prayer of a righteous man has great power as it is working. God desires both to inspire and use our prayers in the lives of His people.  At St. John’s Lutheran Church we invite everyone to join the prayer chain.  As a powerful link in the prayer chain you will receive regular email updates, encouraging scripture, and prayer requests delivered to your inbox to assist you in praying for God’s people.  Contact the church office to have your name added to the email distribution to start receiving prayer requests on the “Prayer Chain”.  Linda Bebeau heads up this vital ministry.

The Prayer Warriors:  Tuesdays at 12:00 noon in Room 3

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Eph. 6:18

Prayers for specific individuals or families, as well as missionaries, and situations.  New Prayer Warriors always welcome.  This group is led by Marv Tegen.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

St. John’s has been blessed to have several dedicated knitters and crocheters that make wonderful shawls that YOU can take and give to people that need a reminder that Jesus loves them and they have not been forgotten.  If you know someone who could use some encouragement (they do not have to be a member of St. John’s), pick up a bagged shawl from The Prayer Ministry Closet, Closet 3C, and take or send it to them. Each shawl will have a tag from the Prayer Ministry attached to it where you can write a short note.  These shawls have been prayed over by the Elders and the Prayer Ministry Team. There is a form where we ask for your name and the recipient’s name so that the Prayer Team can pray for you and them, and a place for you to put down their address if you would like us to send them a card.

We welcome the donation of shawls if you would like to participate in that way.  We have a pattern or you can use one of your choosing.  There is a selection of yarn available in the closet that you can use.  Simply place the shawl in the bin marked New Shawls in Closet 3C.
