Our St. John’s Lutheran family is happy to support several missionaries and missionary organizations around the world for the fiscal year from July 2023 to June 2024:

  • POBLO International is a Christian mission organization working to transform the way missions are approached in the United States. Their mission statement is to meet the physical, social, and spiritual needs of Muslims and other immigrants and refugees in the United States by sharing the love of Jesus in practical and culturally relevant ways. St. John’s has been supporting POBLO since 2013.
  • Lutheran Heritage Foundation translates Bibles and other Christian resources into over 90 languages to support local churches throughout the world. Their mission statement is:  Through the mission gifts of people like you, LHF translates, publishes, distributes and introduces books that are Bible-based, Christ-centered and Reformation-driven.  John’s has been supporting Lutheran Heritage Foundation since before 2014.
  • Pastor Fungchatou Lo in SE Asia – Pastor Lo’s mission is to spread the good news about Jesus to the Hmong people of  southeast Asia.   He works through the Mission of Christ Network. St. John’s has been supporting Pastor Lo since 2016.
  • Stronghold Cambodia is a registered, faith-based NGO in Kampot, Cambodia where children hear about Jesus’ love in their own heart language for the first time. Stronghold is led by Phan Narit (Jesse), a Cambodian pastor, along with his wife, Chin Sithon (Naomi).  They are joined by Mission of Christ missionaries who teach ESL & the Bible. St. John’s has been supporting Stronghold Cambodia since 2014.
  • Pastor Mahlburg (Sri Lanka) partners with the Ceylon Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sri Lanka providing administrative support, Christian education and mentoring for the pastors, evangelists and laypeople of the church. He works through Mission Central. John’s has supported Pastor Mahlburg since 2015.
  • Pastor Adam Lehman (Puerto Rico) serves as a church planter working alongside other church leaders to grow the church in Puerto Rico. He works through Mission Central. John’s recently added Pastor Lehman to our supported missionaries in 2021.
  • Ethiopia Evangelical Church Mekane Yesus (EECMY)/Concordia Center for the Family – Concordia Center for the Family is a family life education ministry with a mission to promote and encourage healthy Christ centered family relationships. EECMY is the largest Lutheran church body in the world with more than 9.7 million members. Concordia Center for the Family is coming alongside EECMY to help train and equip their congregations in family ministry. St. John’s donated to Concordia Center for the Family to support translation efforts for books and training materials to be used by the EECMY congregations to strengthen their family life ministry programs.  Johns began supporting this effort in 2021.
  • Lutheran Hour Ministries uses global media to equip and engage volunteers to proclaim the gospel. It reaches more than 150 million people in over 60 countries through various media with the most well known being The Lutheran Hour® radio show. Additionally, they provide Bible Correspondence Courses, training events, and evangelism resources.  John’s has supported various Lutheran Hour Ministries programs since before 2013.
  • Orphan Grain Train collects and ships donated items including clothing, medical supplies, food and Christian literature for domestic aid, international aid and disaster relief. They have reached 69 different countries.  Orphan Grain Train is a recognized service organization of the LCMS.  The Michigan location is in Sebawaing.  Johns will periodically collect items from the congregation and transport them to Sebewaing.  St. John’s has supported them since 2015.
  • Ashley Lehr serves the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) in Puerto Rico, based in Mayaguez. As an outreach specialist, Ashley connects, equips and organizes local and international volunteers for service to Christ both on and off the island of Puerto Rico. These relationships of service and love create opportunities for sharing the Good News of Jesus in word and deed, as well as for forming a church body that is known for serving its communities. She also works to assist local communities by connecting them to fellowship, education and mercy activities and events. Ashley’s hometown is Appleton, Wis., where her home congregation, Faith Lutheran Church, is located. She received a bachelor’s degree in social work, with a minor in communication, from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minn.
