Did you know that St. John’s has approximately 40 members who are unable to attend weekly services? There are a variety of ways St. John’s reaches out to those who are home bound with the encouragement of the Gospel. Our Visitation Team is led by Pastor Josh Parsons and includes several caring congregational members.
Pastoral Visits
On a monthly basis our Pastors and Deacon bring the Word and the Lord’s Supper to our home bound members. Hospital visits are also provided when the need arises. To request a visit, please contact the church office at 989-835-5861 or email office@sjlmidland.org
Weekly TV broadcasts
Our Sunday service is available to watch on MCTV channel 191 on Monday at 5:30 p.m. &Tuesday at 10 a.m. Our home bound members have expressed what a blessing it is to be able to view the weekly service.
Nursing Home Services
Pastor Parsons currently leads monthly services at six residential facilities: Washington Woods, Riverside, StoryPoint, Kings Daughters, Medilodge, and Britanny Manor. Click on the “Calendar” for dates and times each month.
Special Gifts and Recognition
Each year the Visitation Ministry Team Coordinator tries to arrange something special for our home bound members. In recent years our home bound members have received gifts and cards at Easter and Christmas as well as monthly “faith pal” letters from students at St. John’s. In addition, our home bound member’s birthdays are celebrated with cards, visits, sweet treats, and balloons. Home bound members have also received engraved keepsake ornaments, along with a baptismal hymn and scripture, in order to remind them of the promises God has given to them in their baptism.
The Visitation Team
St. John’s has a vibrant visitation ministry team. Team members are assigned a home bound member (or members) whom they visit on a monthly basis. Team members build relationships with our home bound members, pray with them , and share the Word.
