“For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function,
so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.”
Romans 12:4-5
Matt and Martha Currie
Matt and Martha currently live in Midland, were both born and raised in Midland, and have strong connections to the Midland community. Matt works for the State of Michigan, Department of Natural Resources – Fisheries Division, helping to manage local fisheries within the southern Lake Huron watershed. Martha works for Dow in Emergency Services & Security (fire, hazardous materials, emergency medical & security response). Matt enjoys a variety of activities; outdoors, daily walks, traditional archery, stream fishing, a good book, history, grilling, and traveling. Martha also enjoys an assortment of activities; woodworking, home remodeling projects, travel, stream fishing, hiking, cooking, hunting, and gardening. The Curries transferred to St. John’s Midland from Zion Beaver, where they were married in September of 2010. There is a strong family tie to St. John’s on Martha’s side of the family; some of the Grebe family and her Grandmother, Minnie Pacholka, were devoted members for many years. Martha can remember attending St. John’s for church with her Grandmother as a small child, most eager to attend Sunday School, wear a pin of attendance and sing her favorite song: “This Is The Feast.” The Curries look forward to attending worship, supporting the mission of the church, and getting to know more people.

Cindy Pauley
Cindy Pauley is a native Midlander who recently moved back to town and was seeking a compassionate, welcoming, and Christ-centered church home. A member of the Lutheran Via De Cristo community, Cindy knew there were many LVCCM community members that also call St. John’s ‘home’ so felt she’d be surrounded by some familiar faces. Cindy started coming to St. John’s almost two years ago alongside her beloved friends (unofficially adopted parents) Ann and Lowell Tolley, and during the past year as a church visitor and volunteer, has come to enjoy the company of so many of the kitchen workers as well! Cindy lives with her precious German shepherd ‘Jake’ and enjoys growing closer to Christ, rescuing and rehabilitating German shepherd dogs, sports, landscaping, camping, traveling, and spending valuable time with friends. She also enjoys volunteering to help others whenever she can, being volunteer with the American Red Cross Disaster Services for 28 years, and a volunteer for the Midland County Search and Rescue and Reiker Surgery Center for several years.
