Cambodia Team Packing

2020 Cambodia Team PackingCambodia Team Packing

The Cambodia 2020 Mission Team had a final planning meeting on Monday, January 6, and I popped in to snag a current photo of the group.  One important topic was making sure everyone had all the necessary documents to travel abroad.  Need a copy in your checked bag, a copy in your carry-on bag, and a copy at home – CHECK.

The Cambodia Team is packing a lot of extra “stuff” along to support their planned programs.  Fortunately, Delta airline allows each passenger to have two checked bags in addition to their carry-on (for free).  So everyone showed up with an extra bag to use for the “essential incidentals”.  Pastor Kempin was packing study Bibles.  Since paper is extremely heavy, those had to be divided among 3 suitcases.  Also there were dozens of mini tubes of toothpaste and a shiny green soccer ball.  The ladies had many crafty items and things for games including hats, mittens, gel pens, glittery mesh, lego sets, a can of snow, ziploc bags, red food coloring, and gallons of goldfish crackers!  They have a plan for all these items, can’t wait to see what they come up with.  Cambodia Team Packing – CHECK.

Wednesday Morning Update:

Unfortunately, Al Paulsen made the tough decision early Wednesday morning to stay home.  He has been suffering with a nasty winter cold and cough.  It has caused prolonged nose bleeds.  According to his wife Lori, he is very disappointed, but felt this was best for everyone involved.  However, Lori still drove a group to the MBS Airport early this morning and watched as they boarded the first of several planes.  First stop is Detroit before heading off to the other side of the globe.

I asked Anna about the time difference and she said they are a full 12 hours ahead of us.  So the Cambodia 2020 mission team is going to lose a day on the way!  We don’t expect to hear from them til the end of the week and  will post their updates as soon as possible.  But of course, we continue to pray for their safety during the traveling leg of the trip!
