The Backpack Buddy Program is starting up again and will continue throughout the school year in Room 2 at St. John’s. We are so excited about this opportunity to again provide a weekend backpack of food (food provided by the EFPN) to children who have limited access to food on the weekend throughout the school term. We will be packing food into plastic bags for approximately 13 children every other week for now. We pack two bags/child (26 bags) at 9:30 am on Wednesday for the upcoming weekend and for the weekend following.
We hope you will consider volunteering for a quick 1 to 1.5-hour commitment to join us in packing the food throughout this school year. Be a packer or help us drive the totes of food up to Sanford Elementary school – you can choose the dates that work for you. Sharon Gallihugh (989-708-1253) will be responsible for organizing on the day of packing and we are grateful for her leadership in this area.
